Volsax was a great leader of the Orvantes? tribe at the Dawn, and became chieftain of all the people in this valley. The Orvantes tribe disintegrated during the Gbaji Wars and the Volsaxi became a clan of the Hendreiki. As their numbers grew, the Volsaxi became a tribe of the Hendreiki overtribe.

The Volsaxi tribe refused to accept King Andrin?'s reforms and their king Hardrard the Green (a member of the Larnsti Brotherhood) invoked Hendreik the Rebel and rebelled against the Pharaoh and his "zombie" kings of Heortland. During the Kitori Occupation, the Volsaxi Night Jumpers raided the Darkmen. The Volsaxi aided Prince Tarkalor in conquering the Kitori and formed the Volsaxar Confederation with the other liberated tribes (Bacofi, Curtali, and Sylangi).
