The Clans Living at Whitewall

'The Darvolsaxi (Dovari)' - the Kings' Clan, or the Royal Clan

After thinking about this, I think that the royal clan should be called the Darvolsaxi or the Dovari (the Faithful). They've been making kings since the Dawn and their survivors reestablished the clan after the Gbaji Wars. The Darvolsaxi have been associated with the Larnsti since Hendreik, and many clan members join the Larnsti Brotherhood (it is almost a rite of passage for Darvolsaxi men). During the Second Age, the population center of the Hendreiki continually moved south (as folk chopped down the Hendreiki Wilderness and settled the plateau), and the Darvolsaxi slowly declined in influence amongst the Hendreiki as a whole (although they remained a very important clan). However, following the Dragonkill, the Volsaxi tribe was reestablished to deal with the horde of refugees from Dragon Pass. As a result, the Darvolsaxi became regionally dominant, but less important in all of Heortland.

The Volsaxi rejected the Andrinic reforms (because they didn't need them - the Darvolsaxi system worked just fine) and ultimately rebelled against the Andrini kings and the Pharaoh. Hardrard the Green returned the Darvolsaxi to Whitewall and restored the association between the clan and the Larnsti brotherhood. The Volsaxi suffered under the period of Kitori dominance, but with Tarkalor's aid, they asserted their leadership throughout the Marzeel valley and beyond.

'The Standing Water Clan' - the Caretakers

This is a tiny Helering clan that have been living here since before Whitewall? was built. They have myths that explain why they relocated so far inland but they are most emphatically not for outsiders ears. They keep to themselves mostly but are more than willing to do any dirty work. They have the longest continuous history of residency at WW, only rivaled (ironically) by the Vaulted Hall Malkioni (maybe). They know all sorts of little secrets. For very old reasons they're pacifists but they bear some mythical importance to WW itself. (At least that's what they say). Unlike many other noncombatants they refuse to evacuate WW and most of them die in the course of the siege. The last member's body is among the corpses after the final Lunar assault.

They call the Shambleshur home.
